Abraham Lincoln:
- Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States.
- Fort Sumter was the first battle of the U.S. Civil War and Abraham Lincoln was the President of the United States during the U.S. Civil War.
- He preserved the Union during the U.S. Civil War and brought about the emancipation of slaves.
- He was assassinated by an actor named John Wilkes Booth at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. John on April 14, 1865
Jefferson Davis:
- Jefferson Davis was a United States senator best known as the president of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War.
- In 1828, Davis graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, 23rd in his class. He served as a U.S. Army officer from 1828 - 1835.
Robert E. Lee-
- American career military officer who is best known for having commanded the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia in the American Civil War.
- When Virginia declared its secession from the Union in April 1861, Lee chose to stay his home state, despite his personal desire for the country to remain intact and despite the fact that President Abraham Lincoln had offered Lee command of a Union Army.
Ulysses S. Grant-
- Under Grant, the Union Army defeated the Confederate military.
- The war, and secession, ended with the surrender of Robert E. Lee's army at Appomattox Court House.
